POEM - A Parent in 1994

And we made a decision

To forsake solitude

And add to our equation

Draft some new talent

Take on an intern

Sponsor an apprenticeship

Develop an internal training program

Through organic growth

In the natural way

Until in the midst of Spring

We found ourselves

In the family way

Delivered of a child

Of the female variety

That made us something closer

To what we wanted to be

Because we were just a couple of kids

Playing husband and wife

But she made it get real

Made it apparent

Or rather

It’s apparent that parents we were made

In that weird instance

When this weak little creature

Arrives into view

To change everything
