POEM - Acorn Fall

With subtle concussion fall
Acorns upon shingles
Roof dulled thud of descending
Followed by playful rhythmic rattle
Hard little nuts rolling until
They fall again
Unobserved

The first announcement caused halting
But by continuation still seeking
Rest amidst slowly faltering blades
Of grass the landing
Is deemed inconsequential
I turn my attention
Elsewhere
I noted the fruit fell
But that was all
I could do for fall

This nutty box at rest
Will crack one day
When tiny rodent paws
Caress the smooth burnished sphere
Frantically carting precious orbs
To and fro in faltering light they
Squirrel away the horde

In a repeated frantic dance
