POEM - To Tell the Time

Hands move around the face
Or electrically charged crystals pulse
Morphing into pieces of a shape
That lets the brain know
What time it is
Marks the aging of the day

I’ve been tasked with selecting a watch
One that my daughter will wear
One that is digital, no hands and stuff
And make sure it is water proof
Because you know how she is
So I peruse and scan the selection

What fascinates me is how many there are
Just in the retail store a large supply
In every color and configuration
So much time spent displaying the time
I pick the serviceable water resistant digital
With a ten year battery and black strap

Killing off an entire lunch hour picking the right watch
